Whitney Chadwick is an art historian who writes on surrealism, gender and contemporary art. The author of numerous books and catalogues, her recent publications include The Modern Woman Revisited: Paris Between the Wars (2003, co-editor); essays for Suspension: Maria Elena Gonzalez (2008; Knoedler Gallery, New York); Mona Hatoum: Undercurrents (2008; Ferrara Palazzo Massari PAC); and Nalini Malani: Splitting the Other (2010; Musee Cantonal des Beaux-Arts, Lausanne). She has a PhD from The Pennsylvania State University and in 2003 she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
