It has been written that “Karen Barad’s radical revision of ontology collapses the division between matter and meaning.” Barad, whose Ph.D. is in theoretical particle physics, is Professor of Feminist Studies at UC Santa Cruz, where she is also affiliated with the History of Consciousness Program and the Department of Philosophy. She is the author of Meeting the Universe Halfway: Quantum Physics and the Entanglement of Matter and Meaning (2007), as well as numerous articles and contributions to anthologies on physics, philosophy of science, cultural studies of science, and feminist theory.
