Kate Morris is an associate professor of Native American and contemporary art history at Santa Clara University, and the president of the Native American Art Studies Association. Morris received her BA from Smith College in 1988, her MA from University of New Mexico in 1993, and her PhD from Columbia University in 2001. She is the author of Shifting Grounds: Landscape in Contemporary Native American Art (due out from University of Washington Press in 2018), and the co-editor of Native Art Now, a volume of more than 20 essays exploring contemporary Native American art in all media. Morris is also co-editor with Bill Anthes of the Fall 2017 special issue of Art Journal devoted to contemporary indigenous arts.
